Cupcake Jam Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the game Cupcake Jam (the "Game"), made by Honest Pixels ("we", "us"), collects, why, and what choices you have. If you have a question that this page doesn't answer, write to honestpixelsupport@gmail.com.
The short version
- You never sign up or give us your name, email or phone number to play.
- The Game creates a random player ID so we can tell players apart in our statistics and crash reports. It isn't linked to your name or Google account.
- We use Google Firebase to understand how the Game is played and to fix crashes.
- The Game shows ads. Our ad partners collect device information, such as your advertising ID, to show and measure those ads.
- If you live in the EU, EEA or UK, the Game asks for your consent before any analytics or personalised ads, and you can change your answer at any time. Everyone can change these choices in Settings → Privacy choices.
- We don't sell your personal information for money.
1. Information stored on your device
Your progress (levels, coins, stars, boosters, bakery decorations), your settings, your privacy choices and your random player ID are saved on your device. They stay there until you uninstall the Game or clear its data.
2. Analytics, crash reports and game settings (Google Firebase)
We use these Firebase services from Google:
- Google Analytics for Firebase tells us how the Game is played, so we can balance levels and the in-game economy. It receives your random player ID, an app-instance ID created by Firebase, gameplay events (for example: level started, won or failed, boosters and coins used, ads watched, purchases made, screens opened), and device information such as model, operating system, language and app version. Google works out an approximate location (country or region) from your IP address.
- Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports: what the Game was doing when it crashed, the error details, your device model and operating system, and your random player ID.
- Firebase Remote Config lets us change game settings (such as level difficulty or prices) without an app update. It receives the Firebase app-instance ID. This is needed for the Game to work as intended.
Analytics and crash reporting follow your consent choice (see section 7). Google handles this data under the Google privacy policy and the Firebase privacy and security terms; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
3. Advertising
The Game is free and paid for by ads: a banner on the home screen, full-screen ads between some levels, ad boxes on some pop-ups, and optional video ads you can choose to watch for rewards. Ads are served through Unity LevelPlay, which chooses between these networks:
- ironSource Ads and LevelPlay (Unity): privacy policy
- Unity Ads (Unity): privacy policy
These partners may collect and process:
- device identifiers, such as the Android advertising ID and app set ID;
- your IP address and the approximate location worked out from it (country or city level, never precise GPS location);
- device information, such as model, operating system, language, screen size and network type;
- how you interact with ads, such as which ads were shown, watched or tapped.
They use this to choose and show ads, cap how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and, where you allow it, show ads based on your interests. We receive reports from LevelPlay about ads shown and the revenue they earned; we also record these in our analytics (section 2).
If you buy Remove Ads, the Game stops showing the banner, between-level ads and ad boxes. Optional reward videos stay available if you want them.
4. In-app purchases
Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details. We receive a confirmation of what you bought (the product, price, currency and an order ID) so the Game can deliver it. Purchases are also recorded in our analytics (section 2). See the Google privacy policy.
5. Downloading game content
Some levels, seasonal themes and bakery rooms are downloaded while you play. They are delivered through Cloudflare, which receives your IP address and basic technical request information (such as the time and the file requested), as any website would. No account or ID is sent with these downloads. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
6. Reminders
If you turn on reminders (for example, "Your oven is ready!"), they are scheduled on your phone as local notifications. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else to do this, and there's no push-notification ID. You can turn reminders off in Settings → Reminders or in your phone's notification settings.
7. Your consent and choices
- EU, EEA and UK: the first time you open the Game, a "Your privacy" screen asks whether we may use analytics and crash reports, and whether ads may be personalised. Nothing is sent for analytics, crash reports or personalised ads until you answer. Choose Accept all, or Manage options to switch each one on or off. The Game works the same either way.
- Everyone: open Settings → Privacy choices at any time to switch personalised ads and analytics on or off. Outside the EU, EEA and UK these are on until you switch them off.
- Do not sell or share my info: in Settings, this switch tells our ad partners not to use your information for personalised ads ("sale" or "sharing" under some US state laws). It works wherever you live.
- Your phone's settings: on Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation, in Settings → Privacy → Ads (the wording varies by phone).
- If you say no to personalised ads, you still see ads, but they aren't based on your interests.
8. Children
Cupcake Jam is a general-audience game and isn't directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). We tell our ad partners that the Game isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the Game and you want their data removed, contact us and we'll delete it (see section 11).
9. Legal bases (EU, EEA and UK)
We rely on your consent for analytics, crash reports and personalised advertising. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a free, ad-supported game for non-personalised ads, fraud prevention and delivering game settings and content. We process purchase information to perform our contract with you (delivering what you bought).
10. Sharing and selling
We share information only with the service providers named above, and when the law requires it. We don't sell personal information for money. Under some US state laws, letting ad partners use device identifiers for personalised ads can count as "selling" or "sharing". Where those laws apply, you can opt out as described in section 7.
11. Your rights and deleting your data
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, and to object to how it's used.
To delete your data:
- In the Game, open Settings → Contact support. This starts an email to honestpixelsupport@gmail.com with your player ID already in the subject.
- Write "Delete my Cupcake Jam data" and send it.
If you can't open the Game, email us anyway; include your player ID if you have it. Because we never know your name, the player ID is how we find your data. Within 30 days we delete the analytics data linked to your player ID and reply to confirm. Crash reports are deleted automatically after 90 days (section 12). Uninstalling the Game removes everything stored on your device.
For data held by our ad partners, use the choices in section 7 (resetting your advertising ID cuts the link to past ad data) or contact the partner directly. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. How long data is kept
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Progress and settings on your device | Until you uninstall the Game or clear its data |
| Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) | Up to 14 months, then deleted automatically |
| Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) | 90 days |
| Ad data | As set out in each ad partner's policy (section 3) |
| Support emails | Until your request is resolved, then up to 12 months |
13. Security
Data sent between the Game and our service providers is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the data we handle to a minimum.
14. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. They use safeguards required by law, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll also tell you in the Game.
